In the social media industry, we have a well-known expression that has been used so often, has become a cliché. The most common version is: "This is not how many people you have on your page, the amount of the commitment that counts." Although this could be discussed (but did not do so in this post) all agree that participation is the key to the future of social media.
Wait for the future? It is a commitment to this? Well, the line current commitment there, but it is limited to a button. However, we can for the future of social media to look at large-the smallest of a social network. I refer to attract social networks on the web, in my mind that you've probably never used. "But, Shahar, you're a good man of genius," you might ask, "What is this social network we have not heard of that?" Well, boys and girls, social networking sites are attractive on Earth. WOW.
WOW was not the word to describe what I said (although it certainly deserves a wow) is the name of the network. WOW (World of Warcraft) is a MMORPG (massively multiplayer online role-playing game), is loosely based on any movie fantasy, book, or video game known to man. Play your character (or a profile picture, if you wish) runs the virtual world, killing monsters and finishing tasks (for example, like us, and participate in our campaigns), usually by being a part of the guild (group ), and interact with other players to buy virtual goods (and sometimes money).
So yes, it's a video game, but also a social network, which brings me to my point: It's not the numbers, the amount of the commitment that means something ( yes, I know, I lied.) WOW has just over 11 million users, making it quite easy in the social media biz, but it creates an ROI is matched only by women in underwear. People actually buy virtual goods for real money, just think what brands can do with it. Nike can sell shoes in limited edition of levitation, the Coca-Cola to sell in-game healing potions - all as part of their marketing campaign social media. Hell, no Elite, a candy company in Israel, the same with Farmville. ROI is so high because of one thing, the only thing that will change the future of social media and strengthen the commitment unparalleled business, things mechanical game.
The game mechanics are the biggest motivator is a commitment. Do not believe me? Just look at this one professor in Indiana, which gave rise to both the presence and participation among students using the RPG (role playing)-like features (levels, functions, corporations), rather than traditional degrees. Foursquare doing right now, just a hint of game mechanics (levels, points, badges), it creates a commitment to never seen before. They really had the person to go to the North Pole just a sign.
So, go out and the likes of RTS, I'm going to kill the dragon ... I am referring to market research. I'm going to do market research, that's all.
